About Willow Guard

Willow Guard is a story-driven dark fantasy RPG that masterfully blends challenging hack-and-slash action with strategic deck-building and a rich, choice-driven narrative. Players assume the role of Ghweros, a dedicated Willowguard tasked with investigating a spate of monster attacks near the remote northern village of Woikos. Set in an original, meticulously crafted fantasy world filled with uplifted animals, absent gods, and centuries-old secrets, the game invites you to explore a beautifully rendered pixel art landscape. Combat is fast-paced and rewarding, as you slash, dash, and cast spells through hordes of enemies using a customizable deck of specialized Willow Guard abilities. Whether navigating the intricate campaign or diving into the story-free Dungeon Run mode, each encounter demands skillful play and tactical decision-making. Outside of combat, Willow Guard offers a deep investigative experience where you control Ghweros as he uncovers the village’s mysteries by interacting with a diverse cast of characters. The innovative clue-and-item gathering system reveals new locations, NPCs, and story threads, unfolding a fully realized interactive fiction adventure shaped by your choices. Character progression is non-traditional, focusing on upgrading gear, expanding your deck, and honing your gameplay rather than simple leveling. The Inclination system records your decisions, influencing your identity as a Willowguard and ultimately determining the fate of Woikos and the wider world. Resource management plays a key role, as crafting cards and upgrading equipment require materials gathered from defeated monsters, dungeon rewards, quests, or trade with a mysterious Merchant. Every choice and upgrade contributes to building the perfect combination of skills and gear to confront the dark forces threatening Tersa.

Instructions

• Once the game is finished downloading, right click the .zip file and click on “Extract to Willow Guard v1.6.4.2 & ALL DLC.zip” (To do this you will need 7-Zip, which you can get here, or you can use the built in windows extractor).
• Double click inside the Willow Guard v1.6.4.2 & ALL DLC folder and run the setup application. Accept the EULA, and install the game. Then, launch the game through the desktop shortcut.
