SUBSUMED is a short to mid-length horror game that immerses players in a dark, wet, and winding cave as they search for three missing divers. The game offers a linear, slowly paced psychological horror experience with a strong emphasis on auditory cues and claustrophobic, uncomfortable locomotion. Players crawl through the cave from a first-person perspective, manually dragging their cursor to pull themselves forward, creating a tense atmosphere where slow turning and limited sight range leave you vulnerable to unseen threats. Your flashlight only illuminates a few feet ahead, heightening the suspense as you uncover scattered remnants of the divers’ descent and push deeper into the unknown, never certain what might be lurking around the next corner. Exploration and careful documentation are key to progressing in SUBSUMED. Players must use whiteboards to mark explored areas and important findings, which are essential for navigation and influence the outcomes of the rescue mission. The camera tool allows you to photograph irregularities and any remains you encounter, especially if a diver cannot be retrieved. With a first playthrough lasting approximately 30 minutes to an hour, the game features multiple endings and various secrets to discover, encouraging replayability. This atmospheric horror title delivers a tense, immersive experience that challenges players to confront their fears in the depths of the cave.
