About Sector Space

Sector Space is a cozy top-down single-player space sandbox featuring retro graphics and a procedurally generated universe. Each world represents a vast galaxy filled with hundreds of star systems and points of interest, seamlessly connected for continuous travel. Players pilot their own ship and, depending on their chosen character class, can command up to six fleet ships. As characters level up, they unlock secondary skills to further specialize and improve their ships, with these skills partially transferring to fleet vessels. Progression primarily revolves around acquiring higher-tier gear and ships, with hundreds of items available that can be enhanced through modifiers. Ships and fleets can be transferred between different galaxy files, allowing for varied exploration experiences, while most resources are renewable, encouraging long-term play in a single world. Unique locations appear across all galaxies but may shift positions, adding variety to exploration. The expansive game world is divided into a grid of sectors, each representing areas like asteroid fields, star systems, or nebulas. Players navigate these sectors either by continuous movement or through jump drives, gates, and wormholes that enable faster travel across vast distances. Combat zones and anomalous regions offer tougher enemies and better loot, with NPCs sometimes visiting or ambushing players during their journeys. Utilization of NPC stations and resources is crucial for advancement, and players can deploy their own stations and drones to defend against hostile invaders. The core gameplay loop involves leveling up by gathering resources, mining asteroids, refining materials, crafting components, and engaging in combat. Dynamic trading between stations is also possible, as item prices vary by region and fluctuate over time, providing an additional avenue for earning credits and upgrading your fleet.
