RuneQuest: Warlords is a turn-based strategy game set in the richly detailed universe of Glorantha, where players assume the role of a warlord defending their tribe from the relentless incursions of Chaos. Set in the year 7/37 (1608) on the Genertela continent, the game’s campaign follows Hahlgrim, a tribal champion from Talastar’s Bilings, as he rallies allies—including elves and temporary Lunar forces—to repel the invading hordes. Spanning 18 missions, the story unfolds across the mystical lands between Talastar and Dorastor, featuring iconic characters like Ketil Whiteye, Hakon the Swimmer, Woowander, and Ralzakark. Players command diverse armies composed of heroes, creatures, and specialized units, each with unique abilities and appearances, drawing on a blend of rune-based magic, sorcery, and tactical prowess to overcome enemies. Battles take place on grid-based maps where terrain, positioning, and unit capabilities create deep strategic layers. Units control zones of influence that impact enemy movement, while Action Points govern movement, attacks, and special abilities, with heroes gaining extra points to execute advanced tactics such as flanking and spellcasting.
