Mayor May Knott is a charming “creepy-cozy” 3D adventure game where you step into the shoes of a shy girl who unexpectedly becomes mayor of a haunted ghost town. Initially terrified by the lurking monsters, May gradually gains confidence by exploring the town, solving puzzles, and fixing up houses and buildings. Along the way, she befriends a cast of over 30 unique and delightfully creepy characters, including Grandfather Clock, a retired clockwork rapper, Reel McKoi, who fishes junk from the polluted lake, and the sandwich-headed fortune teller Madame Pastrami. Using the “Ectophone,” a device that enables communication with ghosts, May helps these spectral residents remember their names and move on, unlocking new opportunities to restore and revitalize the abandoned town. The gameplay is rich with puzzles, minigames, and engaging activities such as cooking and crafting recipes learned from over 30 original, professionally-produced songs played on the Edjukebox in the Hall of Records. These tracks span a wide variety of genres, teaching May new skills needed to solve challenges and assist the townsfolk. By gaining house keys from ghosts and inviting monsters to live in the town, players build a thriving community where each new resident contributes to the town’s revival. Day and night cycles add depth to interactions, requiring players to meet characters at specific times or locations.
