As We Descend is a strategy roguelike deckbuilder set in a post-apocalyptic world where survival depends on mastering dual-layered deckbuilding. Players recruit unique squads by harnessing scavenged technology, each squad representing distinct archetypes with customizable cards that can be added, removed, and upgraded. Strategic deployment of these forces is essential to tailor your deck for success in hazardous expeditions and intense battles. The combat system challenges players to adapt by reading enemy intents and repositioning units between Guard and Support Zones, dodging attacks and establishing defensive lines. Throughout your descent, you will navigate three distinct biomes filled with formidable enemies, valuable resources, and hidden mysteries, all while striving to breach the core beneath the surface. The last city of humanity, known as the City-Vault, serves as your central hub and the final bastion against the apocalypse. Within its walls, you must engage with a complex feudal political landscape, forging alliances and compelling influential denizens to your cause through calculated risk and diplomacy. Managing limited time and resources is critical to preparing your forces for the relentless threats ahead. As a representative of one of the city’s three great factions, you hold the key to its survival and must outmaneuver rival powers while uncovering the city’s darkest secrets. Even in failure, each attempt grants new knowledge and tools, encouraging deeper exploration and strategic refinement in your ongoing quest to hold the line and secure humanity’s future.
