The looming threat of the Absolute Tone—a powerful signal that would strip the population of their humanity—casts a shadow over the city. By fate or chance, Felix, a young dustman, becomes uniquely aware of this danger and must work to prevent the Leader from turning everyone into mindless servants. Drawing loose inspiration from the works of Karel Čapek and George Orwell, Phonopolis explores themes of social manipulation and individualism, all while maintaining a playful, light-hearted tone. As Felix gains immunity to the loudspeakers’ influence, players can cleverly manipulate these devices to solve puzzles involving other characters, adding a strategic layer to the gameplay. The environment itself, crafted entirely from cardboard, invites interaction through innovative mechanics like turning walls, shuffling floors, and controlling machinery, each puzzle seamlessly woven into the world’s paper-built setting.
