About Calyx

Calyx is a fresh take on the RTS and base-building genre, pitting players against a relentless new enemy: the Calyx, a powerful group of plant-aliens that rapidly spread to dominate the map if left unchecked. As the sole survivor aboard an Avaris Corporation deep-space mining vessel, you arrive in orbit around a barren planet and, despite being frozen for over a century, are tasked by the ship’s AI to extract Ore from the surface. Your mission involves constructing a power network, deploying Harvesters to gather Ore, refining resources, and defending your base with walls, turrets, tanks, and artillery to hold back the advancing Calyx. Careful management of energy is crucial to maintain vital defenses, while securing rare resource deposits and connecting booster buildings provides essential buffs to power, mining, and healing. Whether you choose to dig in and build a massive force or employ a nimble, mobile strategy, Calyx offers diverse approaches to overcoming the various hostile plant variants threatening your foothold. Beyond base-building and combat, players can protect Data Archives to earn Research Points, unlocking advanced units and technologies through a tech tree. New weapons like the Inferno flamethrower, massive multi-turret tanks such as the Goliath enhanced with hover technology, and devastating orbital laser strikes become available as you progress. Maintaining communication arrays unlocks deep space network access for scanning Calyx roots and uncovering the biology of these hostile lifeforms. The game offers an Early Access campaign featuring a tutorial, 16 maps, five difficulty levels, and multiple Calyx species to face. A Skirmish mode allows for customizable challenges with adjustable roots, resources, and tech levels, and players can share seeds to compete with friends on identical maps. With ongoing development encouraged by community feedback, Calyx invites you to explore, experiment, and ultimately find a way to reclaim the planet and return home.

Once the game is finished downloading, right click the .zip file and click on “Extract to Calyx v0.1.0.3.zip” (To do this you will need 7-Zip, which you can get here, or you can use the built in windows extractor).
Double click inside the Calyx v0.1.0.3 folder and run the setup application. Accept the EULA, and install the game. Then, launch the game through the desktop shortcut.
