Because We’re Here ~Mohnblume und Blauerose~ is a bittersweet otome dating sim set against the harsh backdrop of a First World War-inspired conflict. In 1915, as the Great War rages on, you assume the role of Elfriede Rauss, a neurotic Postal Corps volunteer navigating the brutal trenches alongside a lost generation of soldiers. Amidst the chaos and devastation of the front lines, an unexpected and overwhelming obstacle arises: love. This emotional journey is complicated by the unforgiving environment, where holding onto affection is a challenge in the best of times, let alone during wartime. Act I, subtitled Never Such Innocence, launches a horror-tinged anti-war epic that unfolds a twisting trench-opera filled with conflicted loyalties and life-altering choices, featuring 20 original pieces of detailed CG art. The game offers a diverse cast of 11 main characters in Act I, including childhood friends, aristocrats, corporals, and cowards, with an additional eight introduced in Act II for a total of 16 potential romance options. Players explore a richly crafted WWI-inspired world, uncovering the pivotal moments of the First Lassallian War across towns and battlefronts. A unique Battle of Wits system challenges players with argumentative boss battles that test emotional intelligence and persuasive skills against both enemies and allies. With an estimated three-hour playthrough for Act I and approximately 55,000 words of narrative, this significantly updated release builds upon the early demos from 2015 and 2016, delivering a compelling blend of romance, strategy, and historical drama.
